Lesson 3 – Who is Hungry?
Sunday, February 24, 2013 – 9:30 am
Acts 17:16-19, 22-23
We have seen some major advancements in technology over the past decade. Information is made readily available to many at a rapid pace. Advancements have made life much more convenient to some degree, but there are some valuable entities that many lack in this day and time. The age of the Jetsons has arrived, but on a much more deeper and significant level, there is still a great hunger and void in many. What am I referring to? A hunger for the things of God.
Although we live a modern technological world, there are still those who are searching for spiritual truths and understanding like never before. What must we as believers do to satisfy this longing found in many? Do we go on a Tract crusade? Do we sponsor a Revival to gather souls? In order to fill this hunger, we must first understand that we have to “create” a hunger in them first.
New Testament Marketing strategy, I Corinthians 9:19-23
- Don’t change the message, but tailor it to the audience you are pursuing.
- Don’t change the message, but package it differently to meet your audience.
We live in a nation where many are ignorant (unlearned) in the Word. Therefore, we cannot assume that people are versed in the scriptures. Basic bible facts and doctrines that we grew up understanding are no longer common to many.
- 31% of many adults barely know the expression “the gospel”
- 86% of adults cannot identify the meaning of the “Great Commission”
These facts convey a startling fact, and that is we have a big job in getting the message out correctly.
The Opportunity, I John 4:9-10
Key points:
- People want to know a person and not a message.
- They want to see what God is doing in your life.
