The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob
Lesson#11
“The Maturity of Jacob”
Gen. 37:42-49
At this stage, we have completed our study of the third stage of Jacob’s history. In the first stage we saw his disposition. In the second stage, his trials and disciplines he suffered. In the third we saw God not only disciplining him but also dealing with his natural life.
The section we will examine this evening will cover the end of Jacob’s natural life. As we shall see, this stage is also considered the stage of Jacob’s maturation.
“But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.” Pro. 4:18
The lesson to learn here is that the Christian’s life should not regress or decline in his/her old age. There are clear examples in the scriptures that declare God’s dealing with those in the latter stages of their lives. This should be marked as a time of fullness.
- Ø The Quiet Jacob
- Ø The Compassionate Jacob
- Ø The Tender Jacob
- Ø The Shining Jacob
- Ø The Jacob Who Kept his Standing
- Ø “Shineth More and More Unto A Perfect Day.”
