Frank George Hammond, 84, of Kennett Square, PA, passed on Sunday, July 28, 2013 at the Pembrooke Nursing & Rehab Center in West Chester, PA.
Born April 21, 1929, he was the son of the late Roland Nelson Hammond and Elsie E. Boddy-Hammond. For many years he was the elevator operator at the Mosteller’s Department Store. Later becoming the sexton at Greater Works Ministries (Former Christ Temple Church) in Kennett Square, PA where he worked until his health began to fail.
Brother Hammond was a faithful member of Greater Works Ministries where he served as an Usher, Sexton, and sang with the Men’s Choir. He never missed a prayer meeting, Bible study or Sunday school. He loved to read his Bible.
Brother Frank loved to photograph and loved to frame all his pictures he would take. He also had a vast collection of cameras. He loved going to yard sales and shopping at Big Lots and Rite Aid. Brother Hammond also traveled the US from coast to coast, and from Canada to Florida with his Pastor the Late Elder Carl Butcher.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his special cousin whom shared in providing care for him; Elder Renee Evans, Catherine Jones, Margaret Dry, Elder E. Richard & Joanne McKim, and Pastor Sandra Ben. Also he is survived by a sister, Margaret Harris of Conshohocken, PA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by two of his caretakers, and beloved cousins, Elder Carl Butcher and Mother Edith Norton.
