Harry E. Norton Sr. of Avondale Harry E. Norton, Sr., 93, of Avondale, passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at the Pembrooke Nursing Facility, surrounded by his loving family. Born on February 11, 1918 in Darlington, Md., he was the son of the late Harry and Blanche Boddy Norton. He was the devoted husband of the late Catherine B. Norton.
Harry was a founding member, builder and Deacon of Christ Temple Church in Kennett Square (Greater Works Ministries) for many years. Recently, he was an associate member of Hosanna House of Prayer in Elkton, Md. He liked to hunt, fish and owned and operated mushroom houses in the Kennett Square area. He was also employed at Lukens Steel, Schramm, Inc., George’s Gas Station, Little Manufacturing Co. and he operated his own lawn care service.
He is survived by three daughters, Joanne L. wife of E. Richard McKim, Sr., Helen L. Wife of Samuel L. Reeves, Sr. and Catherine E. Jones, all of Avondale; son, Wayne A. husband of Arlene of Avondale; 12 grandchildren; 20 great- grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his son, Harry E. Norton, Jr., brothers, Rodney, James and John, and one sister, Helen Steven.
