Blanche Marie “Tiny” Wilmore Rice, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2011 at Pembrooke Nursing and Rehabilitation Residence in West Chester.
Wife of the late David Rice.
Born April 17, 1926 in Glen Mills, PA, she was the daughter of the late John I. Wilmore and Caroline I. Redden Wilmore. She received her education at Glen Mills Elementary School, Westtown Thornbury School and West Chester High School.
She worked as a domestic most of her life, also as a nurse’s aide at Friends Boarding Home for 7 years until her health began to fail.
Blanche was a devoted member of Greater Work’s Ministries formerly Christ Temple Church, where she sang on the choir, was choir Secretary for 9 years, Chaplin and Treasurer of the Missionary Board, Treasure of Youth Ministries, President & Vice President of the Usher Board, building fund Secretary.
She is survived by her sisters, Beulah M. Gandy of West Chester, PA, Joan P. Powell of Brookhaven, PA and Sarah Redden of Wilmington, DE; two stepdaughters, Marie Watson and Arnetta Winters; four step grandchildren; two great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She is preceded in death by four sisters, Mildred E. Chambers, Kathryn L. Milbourne, Susan L. Medley, and Caroline Pacheco; three brothers, Clarence Wilmore, William Wilmore, and Harry Redden.
