“The Law of Confession”
Lesson #4 – Faith vs. Fear
“For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me”.
Job 3:25
When we are born again, we must learn to adopt new habits and tendencies that will bring honor to God. We have left one manner of life, and have embraced a new manner by which we should live. Learning to adopt the law of confession is one of the major things we should strive to make a vital part of our new life in Christ. As a believer, we have to value our words in a new and meaningful ways.
One of the strategies the enemy deploys against believers is to get us to focus on the negative aspect(s) of our lives. Situations come that test our confidence in God, and strive relentlessly to weaken our faith in Him. We must remember that the enemy gains strength and energy by our selection of words that are spoken in fear. Satan is not omniscient, but he can garner power when we give him permission and license to wreak havoc in our lives when we speak words that are motivated by fear.
Dreams are destroyed, goals are not met, and healings are often hindered and delayed because of words that are uttered under the motivation of fear. Just because a situation looks hopeless does not mean that it is hopeless.
Life or Death:
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof”.
Proverbs 18:21
According to this verse, God has placed the responsibility of life and death on what you say. It is your tongue, and it is up to you to bring it under your control. God nor the devil can do anything about this measure of control without your permission. It is up to you take control.
“Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips”.
Psalm 141:3
“I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me”.
Psalm 39:1
Blessed Quietness:
“Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.”
Ephesians 4:29
We don’t want to speak words that are rotten, worthless, or unfit for use. Our aim should be to speak words that will build up, and not tear down ourselves or others for that matter.
“If thou hast done foolishly in lifting up thyself, or if thou hast thought evil, lay thine hand upon thy mouth”.
Proverbs 30:32
“Whoso keepeth his mouth keepeth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles”.
Proverbs 21:23
“He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction”.
Proverbs 13:3
“In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise”.
Proverbs 10:19
Silent Victory:
“And, behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet, and besought him greatly, saying, ‘My daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live. And Jesus went with him; and much people followed him, and thronged him.”
Mark 5:22-24
