Overseer C. Mark Avery
Overseer Avery was born on November 15, 1962 to the late Elder Arthur Avery and Sister Deloris Avery in Philadelphia, PA. He was educated in the Philadelphia Public Schools, and graduated from Northeast High School. He attended Temple University majoring in Mass Communications. He was baptized in Jesus name on July 23, 1973 at the Rose of Sharon Church in Philadelphia by Suffragan Bishop Joseph Scott. He received the Holy Ghost on September 25, 1979 during bible class. While attending Rose of Sharon he served in many capacities. He was the Young Peoples President, and Choir Director for the United Voices of Christ. The Lord led him to become a part of the Christ Temple family not knowing that he would later become Pastor.
Pastor Avery has held many positions a here at Christ Temple Church, (now Greater Works Ministries as of 1993), including President of the Youth Ministry. He also served as a Deacon, and later was called to the ministry. On March 8, 1989 he preached his first sermon, and was installed as the Pastor on April 17, 1993. He graduated from Bethel Bible Institute in Wilmington, DE, and was chosen as the class valedictorian. He was ordained as an Elder on June 24, 1994. While pastoring he has implemented many new programs, and ministries. He is a dynamic teacher and preacher, and many have been blessed and inspired through his ministry.
Pastor Avery served on some of the local community service boards such as the YMCA, Tick Tock Early Learning Center, Even Start, Kennett Consolidated School District, and the Kennett Ministerium. His desire is for the church to meet the spiritual, physical, and emotional needs of the community by taking the ministry outside of the confines of the church building.
Pastor Avery guided Greater Works to The World Assemblies of Restoration in 2011 under the Leadership of Diocesan Bishop William Todd and Prelate Bishop James Nelson, Senior. Pastor Avery has flourished and grown taking on more responsibilities and duties under Bishop Todd. On July 26, 2013, Pastor Avery was elevated to Overseer.

Carlton Mark Avery II & Chandler Monroe Avery are the two sons of Pastor Avery.
Carlton Mark Avery II was ordained as Deacon on March 9, 2014.
