“The Law of Confession”
Lesson 3 – Satan’s Lies
“And God blessed them, and God said unto them, be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth”.
Genesis 1:28
Satan went after humanity by way of Adam and Eve because he recognized that God had given us authority on Earth. Our authority was expressed by way of our words. So the enemy (Satan) placed us under his authority by destroying our understanding of the power and value of our words [Genesis 3:1-5]. He convinces many that their words do not matter. The outcome of such is that we cease believing that anything we say would come to pass of have any consequences. The strategy of Satan was to convince us that words were empty speech.
Satan’s great deception is that our words are powerless and of no effect. When we believe that lie, we then believe that our words have nothing to do with the way our lives go. God’s desire though has always been that our words establish who we are, where we go, and what we have in life and all of this for our good.
Words are Spirit:
Through the law of confession, God shows us how to operate in spiritual law and have dominion over natural things. Our purpose is to be fruitful, multiply, replenish the earth, subdue it and have dominion over every living thing. How is this accomplished? By our words.
“It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life”.
John 6:63
According to Hebrews 1:3, the creation is held together by the “word of His power”. The spoken Word holds this universe together. One truth that needs to be firmly established is that once God says something and puts it in motion, nothing can stop it.
Believe it, speak it: Mark 11:11-14
The disciples heard Jesus speak to a fig tree. Yes, our Savior spoke to something which had no ears or mouth or any way of communicating. If we recall carefully, the disciples were exposed to this kind of authority prior to this in Mark 4:39 when Jesus “rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, Peace be still. And the wind ceased, there was a great calm.” They saw that when Jesus spoke to the natural world, it obeyed him.
If you notice, Jesus does not go back to check on the tree to see if his words had worked. When he spoke the words, he knew the tree was gone. He believed everything he said would come to pass. It is therefore incumbent on us to believe that after we have spoken God’s will and word over a situation, we can walk away and rest in the knowledge that what we speak carries the power of God, and what we say shall come to pass. We have to make the connection between what we say with our mouths and what happens in our life. This will not be productive if we don’t believe what we are saying.
Vain Words: Ephesians 5:6
We have to increase the value we place on our words, every word, all the time. God hates empty, meaningless, fruitless words. When we speak this way, we are operating in disobedience. Remember, our mandate is to be fruitful, multiply and take dominion with our words. This type of speaking pleases the enemy for several reasons, but the most obvious one is that it displeases God and keeps us from declaring his will and word in the earth.
How do we heal this sickness or disconnect?
- Repent and stop saying stuff you don’t really believe.
- Ask God to cleanse your heart of all unbelief and bring your heart and mouth in proper alignment, Psalm 51:10
- Stay focused on the Word.
